SAR Team Evacuated 2 Australian Caucasians Stranded On Teor Island Because The Yacht Engine Died

AMBON - The joint SAR team succeeded in evacuating a yacht carrying two foreign nationals from Australia around the waters of Teor Island, East Seram Regency, Maluku.

"The two passengers on this small ship are Smith Warren Ashley (63) and his partner Mrakas Chrisropher (61)," said Head of the Search and Rescue Office of the Ambon Basarnas, Mustari in Ambon, as reported by Antara, Saturday, April 2.

The yacht used by two foreign nationals was reported to have experienced an engine failure and was stranded in the waters of Pulau Teor, SBT (Maluku) Regency.

The Australian Caucasian, according to Mustari, actually departed from Sorong, West Papua since March 29, 2022, to Australia.

"Initially we received information from a professional guide named Ponsiwus Mesak Rahwarin at 16.32 WIT," said Mustari.

Receiving this information, the joint SAR team moved from the Tual pier to the scene using KN SAR Abhimanyu.

Arriving at the scene of the incident, 2 foreigners and the ship they were on were successfully evacuated and brought to Tual Port.
