Muhammadiyah Mosque In Rawamangun, East Jakarta Begins To Hold Tarawih Prayers

JAKARTA - The As-Sudairi Rawamangun Mosque, East Jakarta, held the first Tarawih Prayer which was attended by dozens of Muhammadiyah residents. This is in accordance with the decision of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive regarding 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijri on Saturday, April 2.

Between observations at the As-Sudair Mosque, the mosque was not so full of worshipers, but the tarawih prayers took place solemnly and not far apart. Most of the worshipers were seen wearing masks.

Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Rawamangun Pulogadung Branch, East Jakarta Muhammad Riyanto said the results of the decision of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive were their reference for fasting.

"This means that today we have performed the tarawih prayer and Saturday is declared 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijri. We also urge the congregation that the As-Sudairi Mosque will perform the Tarawih prayer tonight," said Muhammad Riyanto, who is also the administrator of the As-Sudairi Mosque, Friday, 1 April.

Various activities were held by the administrators of the As-Sudairi Mosque to fill the holy month of Ramadan such as providing takjil (breaking the fast food) and eating sahur for officers and traveling pilgrims.

Other activities include tarawih lectures, tahsin Quran on Saturday and Sunday, after the Fajr prayer and kultum after the dhuhur prayer.

Along with the sloping down of COVID-19 cases, the government has also decided that tarawih can be carried out not remotely, but still with health protocols.

"We still urge worshipers to wear masks and we even prepare hand sanitizer at the entrance to the mosque," he added.

He is grateful that currently worship in the month of Ramadan can take place as before the pandemic.

"For two years we have been limited to worshiping in the mosque, with the current sloping conditions it is extraordinary that we can gather together, because the law also dictates that such a meeting must be held," he said.

Muhammadiyah, using the method of reckoning the actual form of the hilal, considers that on Friday, April 1, 2022 AD, the ijtima before Ramadan 1443 H will occur at 13:27:13 WIB. Thus, Muhammadiyah has determined that 1 Ramadan 1443H will fall on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Meanwhile, the government through the Ministry of Religion has set the start of fasting or 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijri/2022 AD to fall on Sunday (3/4), after it was decided through an isbat session on Friday.

Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas reported that based on monitoring results from 101 points in 34 provinces did not see the new moon according to the prerequisites set by MABIMS, namely the height of the hilal of 3 degrees with an elongation of 6.4 degrees.

The height of the new moon in all parts of Indonesia is at a position of 1 degree 6.78 minutes to 2 degrees 10.02 minutes. This is the position of the new moon based on reckoning.
