MAKASSAR - The Makassar City Government has prepared the art of gandrang bulo (bamboo wasps) in 1,000 alleys to commemorate Culture Day in the local city.

Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto) said the commemoration of the Cultural Day which falls on April 1 will be commemorated by the public by wearing traditional clothes.

"As for ASN and non-ASN in the Makassar City Government, all of them will wear traditional clothes and services will remain open, but wear traditional clothes," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 31,

Danny Pomanto stated that the commemoration which has been regularly held since 2018 will be enlivened again on April 1, 2022 and will continue to apply health protocols because currently the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing.

According to him, in welcoming the cultural day, a number of cultural parades are prepared and will entertain the entire Makassar community. Residents were also asked to wear traditional clothes as a symbol of celebration in the colorful culture of Makassar.

"This is not just a celebration for ASN, let's all wear our own traditional clothes because this is a form of our love and concern for our ancestral culture," he said.

Danny Pomanto said that the people in Makassar are heterogeneous with various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Even so, he invites people to wear traditional clothes according to their respective cultures.

"Our traditional clothes are different and so charming. Those who wear must look dashing and beautiful. That's why it's called colorful Makassar culture. Our cultural day will remember our childhood in the midst of changing times," he explained.

The cultural festival is planned to be filled with cultural day ceremonies, gandrang bulo 1000 aisles, carnival fashion competitions, cultural nights and carnival days. Meanwhile, the location of the event will be centered on the Makassar City Hall yard starting at 07.30 WITA.
