Amid Admittedly Difficult Situations, North Lombok Regency Government Starts Building Regent's Office Rp43 Billion

NORTH LOMBOK - The government of North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, has started the construction of the regent's office worth Rp. 43 billion which will be the center of regional government services.

The construction began with the laying of the groundwork by the Regent of North Lombok H Djohan Sjamsu, accompanied by the Deputy Regent of North Lombok Danny Karter Febrianto R, and Chairman of the DPRD of North Lombok Regency Nasrudin, in North Lombok Regency.

"Apart from being the central locus of government activities and services to the community, the existence of the central government office is also a regional icon, in addition to beautifying the spatial landscape of the district," said North Lombok Regent H Djohan Sjamsu as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 31.

He said that in the midst of the difficult situation of North Lombok Regency due to the earthquake in 2018 and the COVID-19 outbreak since 2020, more efforts were needed to realize the construction of the regent's office using APBD funds.

Therefore, Djohan invites all levels of society together to overcome the existing challenges by working earnestly.

"As residents of the north (North Lombok, ed), we are grateful at the age of 13 in North Lombok Regency, only now, we can build the regent's office," he said.

The regent of North Lombok for two periods explained two reasons why the construction of a regional government head office must be carried out in 2022. First, 2022 is the right moment to build a regional government service center.

Second, in the following years, the country and regions in Indonesia were busy with the general election agenda and regional head elections which would take up quite a large budget.

"Therefore, I think the construction of the regent's office building this year is the right time," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the North Lombok Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency Kahar Rizal said after many government buildings were destroyed by the earthquake four years ago, this year, the local government has high optimism to rebuild infrastructure that has been destroyed.

One of them is the construction of the youngest autonomous regional government center in NTB. The office locus is focused on Tanjung Subdistrict, and parts of Gangga Subdistrict.

He said the land area for the regent's office construction site reached 2.6 hectares with a total land area for office buildings reaching 2,332 square meters. The office building is planned to consist of four floors.

"The interesting thing about the regent's office building lies in the design of the roof of the building resembling the roof of the Bayan Ancient Mosque. The icon will certainly make the architectural design of the regent's office look more attractive and elegant because it highlights the traditional symbols and culture of the Dayan Gunung area," he said.
