This Is How A Trader At Jatiuwung Market, Tangerang, Deceived An Onion Farmer From Magetan

TANGERANG – After defrauding an onion farmer from Magetan, East Java, the man with the initials M in Tangerang City was arrested. Unmitigated, the suspect, known as a trader at the Jatiuwung market, managed to get away with 850 kilograms worth Rp. 21 million.

The Head of Neglasari Police, Kompol Putra Pratama, said the suspect was arrested at his rented house in Jatiuwung, Tangerang City, Thursday, March 31.

"The perpetrator was arrested this morning, near the Jatiuwung market, on his rent," said Putra when confirmed, Thursday, March 31.

Putra explained that the suspect carried out the fraud on Jalan Pembangunan III, Neglasari, Tangerang City, Sunday, March 27, at around 12.00 WIB.

Initially, continued Putra, the victim's child marketed the onion harvest on Facebook. The suspect, using an account in the name of “UD Mandiri”, expressed interest in buying the onions.

Until finally, both the suspect and the victim met on Jalan Pembangunan III, Neglasari, Tangerang City to make a transaction. The victim came from Magetan using an L300 pickup to go to the specified location.

"(The victim) rented a pickup L300 car. Arriving at the address specified by the perpetrator, namely on Jalan Pembangunan III Neglasari, the shallots were unloaded from the car," explained Putra.

Then, the perpetrator took the victim to lunch at a food stall in the Cikokol area. At that time the perpetrator said goodbye to the bathroom but did not come back. Simultaneously, the victim's onions were taken without making any payment. Feeling cheated, the victim finally reported to the Neglasari Police.

"Before leaving, the perpetrator assured the victim, the perpetrator sent a photo of his ID card which turned out to be using someone else's ID card and he replaced the photo with a photo of himself," said Putra.

The police who received the report immediately launched an investigation. And soon the suspect was arrested in his rented apartment in Jatiuwung.

"The motive is to seek profit," said Putra.

The suspect was charged with Article 378 in conjunction with Article 372 of the Criminal Code with the threat of 15 years in prison
