Edy Mulyadi Suspect Of Hate Speech, Re-arrested For 20 Days In Rutan Bareskrim Polri Headquarters

JAKARTA - The suspect for uttering hate speech, Edy Mulyadi, has been detained again for the next 20 days at the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Police Headquarters. This was conveyed by the Head of the Central Jakarta District Attorney's Office (Kejari) Bima Suprayoga after receiving the files and evidence from the Bareskrim Investigator of the National Police Headquarters, Thursday, March 31.

Bima said that Edy Mulyadi's detention was effective from today, Thursday, March 31 to April 19, next.

"The Public Prosecutor (JPU) will then prepare the indictment and transfer the a quo case files to the Central Jakarta District Court," said Central Jakarta Kejari Bima Suprayoga to VOI, Thursday, March 31.

Edy Mulyadi was named a suspect for mentioning the New State Capital (IKN), Kalimantan, as a place for genies to dispose of children.

The suspect Edy Mulyadi is suspected of committing a crime of hate speech based on ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup (SARA) through a YouTube account. It is known that Edy did this at a hotel in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

For this action, suspect Edy Mulyadi is suspected of having violated Article 45A Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 28 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Article 14 paragraphs (1) and (2) and/or Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations and/or Article 156 of the Criminal Code.
