JAKARTA - Hotel and Restaurant Entrepreneurs (PHRI) asked DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to allow dine-in services to restaurants specifically located in hotels and malls.

PHRI Deputy Chairman for Restaurant, Emil Arifin, said that his party had sent a letter of request to the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) regarding the dine-in permit.

"We ask Pak Anies to allow dine-in services to return to restaurants in malls and hotels. We ask for permission to resume operations such as the transitional PSBB," Emil told VOI, Monday, September 28.

Emil said, PHRI's desire for the DKI Provincial Government to allow dine in has been supported by the central government, in this case the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

He claims, the implementation of health protocols in restaurants in malls and restaurants is always followed and has protocol compliance monitoring from the mall and hotel management.

"The Ministry of Creative Economy actually supports us because PHRI has collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism to create its own health protocol, namely CHS or cleanliness, health, and safety," Emil said.

"We have already implemented it. So, consider it so that it is allowed to open. The DKI Provincial Government should invite us to discuss this matter because the ministry supports it," he continued.

However, Emil does not recommend restaurants or places to eat other than those in malls and hotels. Because, he doubts if the restaurant complies with the limitation of customer capacity as much as 50 percent.

If there is social jealousy from the restaurant, Emil thinks it should be motivated so that the place can comply with health protocols.

"Instead, they are encouraged to implement health protocols. Do not let social jealousy be highlighted. Hence, apply health protocols," he said.

Emil's reason for asking Anies to allow dine-in restaurants in malls and hotels is because currently the food business sector has been losing money since the early PSBB period.

"Even now, many have closed permanently. Yesterday, when the PSBB transition we took a little breath, uh, we were hit again by an unpredictable PSBB. In fact, businessmen hate uncertainty the most," Emil explained.

For information, Anies has set a second PSBB period since September 14 and was extended to October 11.

During the PSBB, food businesses were still allowed to operate. However, they are prohibited from providing dine-in services, only allowed to serve delivery orders and purchase of food to take home.
