SMRC Survey Reveals Residents Are Dissatisfied With Jokowi's Performance Over The Last 3 Months

JAKARTA - The survey institute Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) released a poll on public satisfaction with President Joko Widodo's performance.

As a result, currently, as many as 64.6 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with Jokowi's performance, 32.2 percent were dissatisfied, and 3.1 percent did not answer or said they did not know.

Although the satisfaction rate for Jokowi's performance is higher, the trend has declined in the last three months. This was stated by the Research Director of SMRC, Deni Irvani, in his survey presentation.

"The approval rating or level of satisfaction with the president's performance has decreased in the last three months, from 71.7 percent in the December 2021 survey to 64.6 percent in the March 2022 survey", said Deni, seen on SMRC TV's YouTube show, Wednesday, March 30.

Along with that, the dissatisfaction with Jokowi's performance has also increased from three months ago. As of December 2021, the public who judged dissatisfied was 25.3 percent. Meanwhile, as of March 2022, the figure will be 32.2 percent.

Deni revealed that one of the factors that decreased the satisfaction level of Jokowi's performance was related to the public evaluation of the government's performance in overcoming the prices of necessities and handling the COVID-19 outbreak.

“Satisfaction with President Jokowi's performance is related to the evaluation of economic, political, security, and law enforcement conditions. There is a tendency that those who evaluate the economic, political, security, and law enforcement conditions positively also give appreciation to the performance of the president. And vice versa", he explained.

This survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews from 13-20 March 2022. The total sample collected by trained data collectors reached 1027 respondents.

The sample was randomly selected from the population of Indonesian citizens aged 17 years and over or already married when the survey was conducted. The survey's margin of error is estimated at +/- 3.5 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
