JAKARTA - A few days before the holy month of Ramadan, President Joko Widodo checked the availability of a number of basic necessities in a number of traditional markets. One of the markets visited was the People's Market in Tempurejo Village, Tempuran District, Magelang Regency, Central Java Province.

"We want to check especially before Ramadan, the second one also checks related to cooking oil. I think the stock is sufficient, but the most important thing is not to let prices rise too high, usually before Lebaran this is the custom," said the president in his statement after review, Wednesday, March 30.

Previously, President Jokowi also visited the Baledono Market in Purworejo Regency. In this market, the President also wants to ensure that the price and availability of bulk cooking oil is sufficient.

"Especially for the packaged oil, the average price is Rp. 24,000, but for bulk oil there is but there is not much stock. I saw that the rest there were only about 2 liters, the price was Rp. 15,500, it still hasn't reached what we want. at Rp. 14,000. For other prices, they are still in a good position, "he added.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also took the time to buy a number of foodstuffs such as chilies, onions, and ginger. In addition, President Jokowi also distributed cash assistance to traders in the two markets. This assistance is expected to ease the burden on traders who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Alhamdulillah, thank you to the President for helping me. Thank you very much, I hope it will be useful,” said Rohayati, one of the traders who received the assistance.

Also accompanying the President on his visit to the People's Market in Magelang were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Coordinator of the Presidential Special Staff Ari Dwipayana, and Market Head Purnomo.
