JAKARTA - A woman from England talks about her addiction to pornography. The first time this happened when he was 10 years old when he was looking for videos about sex on his family computer.

Courtney Daniella Boateng, 23, said she was "always a curious kid" and that when sex "whispers" first started circulating around the school playground, she looked for it on YouTube while her parents and younger sister were busy downstairs.

"(It was) my first look at sex," he wrote in a new essay for The Sun.

"The video took me by surprise - it was unlike anything I had seen before and I immediately wanted to see more."

Boateng said seeing pornography soon became his routine.

"Several times a month when I find out my parents are working overtime, I visit Pornhub and look for 'first love' or 'married partner'."

He revealed that in a month he could only go through a few days without pornography.

"I was totally hooked. To cover my tracks I would delete my internet search history, and put my school bag at the door to stop anyone who barged in while I was watching. I also hid my secret hobby from my friends, because I don't want to be the first to discuss this issue, "Boateng said.

"My obsession continued throughout high school. At that time, I spent two or three hours a week watching porn."

Boateng started using masturbation against pornography to get over his anxiety - it would give him some relief.

It also affected his relationships with other people, including his new girlfriend when he was 18 years old.

"There's no passion, and if he's not going to give you the same gratification as porn, why bother?" he mused.

"Because of this, and the fact that I need to go into my pornography routine three times a week, I realize that I have an addiction ... When I'm stressed and anxious, I can't think of anything else."

In March 2016 Boateng decided to go "cold turkey" - no porn, masturbation or sex.

"I turned to yoga and exercise, kept a journal and hung out with friends, and went to church."

In April this year, he shot a YouTube confession video of his struggle with pornography addiction.

"More than 800,000 people watched my open story, and their response was overwhelming. Countless people shared the same struggle," Boateng said.

Boateng no longer watches porn and says she has focused on friends, family and her career in the beauty industry.
