TULUNGAGUNG - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa ensured that food stocks and basic household needs in the area ahead of Ramadan were safe, there were no shortages despite a surge in market demand.

"Our food supplies (in East Java) are sufficient," said Khofifah in Tulungagung, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 29.

Regarding bulk cooking oil, Khofifah stated that her party had asked for additional stock.

The East Java Provincial Government has also coordinated with BUMN PT. RNI (Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia) which has bulk cooking oil stocks, to maximize stock in the market.

"As for meat, rice supply and stable prices, I have also communicated with PTPN so that East Java's sugar stock is not carried anywhere," he said.

According to Khofifah, currently there are 60 thousand tons of sugar in stock. The stock is safe for the needs of East Java until May.

In line with the Governor, the Regent of Tulungagung Maryoto Birowo also ensures that food stocks in Tulungagung are safe during the month of Ramadan.

"God willing, our stock is still safe," answered Maryoto.

According to him, currently in some areas of Tulungagung there are already major harvests. This harvest stock can meet the needs of Ramadan.
