"The perpetrator with the initials GR alias BM was arrested while transporting processed wood without having an SKSHH document in Saka Tamiang Village, West Kapuas District," said Kapuas Kapuas Police Chief AKBP Manang Soebeti, as reported by Antara, Sunday, September 27.

The arrest of the GR perpetrator, he said, was based on information from the public which was then carried out by an investigation and subsequently succeeded in securing the perpetrator and hundreds of processed wood on Friday, September 25.

According to Manang, the perpetrator was arrested because he could not show the SKSHH document made of mixed meranti wood he was carrying. The perpetrator also brought a number of processed wood of various sizes 3 × 5 totaling approximately 183 pieces and 1 × 15 thin boards totaling approximately 192 pieces.

To account for his actions, the police will charge him in Article 83 paragraph 1 letter b Jo Article 12 letter e Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2013 concerning the prevention and eradication of forest destruction (P3H).

"For the perpetrators and a number of wooden evidence, we have brought it to the Kapuas Police Unit for further investigation," said Kristanto.

The perpetrator of GR alias BM is a resident of Saka Tamiang Village, Rukun Tetangga (RT) 05 Kapuas Barat District, Kapuas Regency. Kristanto reminded and appealed to the people in the Kapuas District Police jurisdiction not to commit illegal acts, especially forest destruction in the local area.
