JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo checked the Sabilulungan Health Market, Soreang, Bandung Regency, West Java in order to ensure the availability of sufficient bulk cooking oil ahead of Ramadan.

During the inspection, the National Police Chief asked and answered a number of traders in the market and obtained information regarding the availability of bulk cooking oil, including the selling price.

"Today, Pasar Soreang received 5 tons and distributed it to 61 traders," said Sigit, quoted from a written statement by the Public Relations Division of the National Police as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 24.

According to him, a number of traders admitted that they had not received bulk cooking oil according to the highest retail price (HET) due to limited supply.

After getting 5 tons of bulk cooking oil, the traders sell it for Rp. 15,500 per kilogram, according to the HET policy from the government.

Apart from traders, the National Police Chief is also tracking the availability of bulk cooking oil supplies to distributors. He also asked the selling price of distributors to traders in the market.

Based on distributor information, said Sigit, the traders released bulk cooking oil at a price difference of IDR 1,000 from the distributor, so the selling price to consumers was IDR 15,500 per kg.

"I hope and ask for help that this continues to be controlled so that the presence of bulk oil can really be available and the price is in accordance with the HET," he said.

In this activity, the National Police Chief hoped that the availability and price of cooking oil, including basic necessities, would be maintained until the month of Ramadan and beyond.

That way, he continued, all basic necessities and other commodities needed by the community, especially housewives, were always available.

"Of course, I hope that price fluctuations will continue to be followed so that they can really be maintained and controlled," said Sigit.

Previously, while reviewing mass vaccination activities at the Intelkam Education Center, Soreang, West Java, Sigit advised the media to help inform the availability and selling price of cooking oil, especially the bulk type, in order to avoid scarcity and price games.

“We leave it to our media partners, we continue to monitor the development of fluctuations in the availability of oil, especially bulk oil and because of that distribution is blocked and then other things that interfere with the availability of this oil, please inform us. So we can take steps," said Sigit.
