Rupiah Is Still Under Pressure, Has Entered The Level Of Rp14,900 Per US Dollar

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on the spot market this weekend is still under pressure. The rupiah opened lower by 0.01 percent to a level of Rp14,892 per US dollar on Friday September 25 trading.

The rupiah weakened further after 30 minutes of trading. VOI monitored at 09:30, the rupiah weakened 0.08 percent to Rp14,903 per US dollar.

Head of Research at Monex Investindo Futures, Ariston Tjendra, said that the US dollar's strengthening sentiment actually seemed to diminish this morning after the market began to re-enter the US stock market, which pushed the US stock index up overnight.

"This morning the Asian stock index also seems to move higher following the sentiment," explained Ariston to VOI.

According to him, this can help strengthen regional exchange rates, including the rupiah against the US dollar. In the latest news, the US Democrat Party is preparing to submit a stimulus proposal of US $ 2.4 trillion to be negotiated with its rivals.

"The market is eagerly awaiting the second US fiscal stimulus package and is a positive news because many economists say the US economic recovery will be disrupted if there is no more stimulus due to the ongoing pandemic conditions," he said.

Until 09:00 WIB, most currencies in the Asia Pacific region managed to stay in the positive zone. The Philippine peso became the biggest strengthening currency after gaining 0.25 percent.

Followed by the Thai baht and Chinese yuan which both strengthened 0.23 percent against the US dollar. Next there is the South Korean won which also rose 0.23 percent.

Then the Taiwan dollar appreciated 0.13 percent and the Singapore dollar rose 0.09 percent. Followed by the Malaysian ringgit, which edged up 0.08 percent.

Meanwhile, the Japanese yen became the currency with the deepest weakness in Asia after weakening 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong dollar is moving stable with a slight tendency to strengthen in trading this morning.
