Police Name 2 Suspects In The Cooking Oil Hoarding Case In Bengkulu

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Resort Police (Polres) has named BA (61) a resident of Betungan Village, Bengkulu City and AR (27) a resident of Talang Sali Village, Seluma Regency as suspects in the cooking oil hoarding case.

Bengkulu Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Welliwanto Malau is suspected of committing a crime of hoarding cooking oil based on the results of an investigation and examination at the Bengkulu Police.

Based on the legality of the licensing for the sale of packaged cooking oil, a total of 75 boxes of cooking oil were confiscated.

"Both of them have been named suspects. At this time we are still continuing to develop related to the case," said Malau, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 22.

The two suspects were charged with Article 107 in conjunction with Article 29 paragraph (1) of Law Number 7 of 2014 jo. Article 11 paragraph (2) of Presidential Regulation Number 71 of 2015 concerning Determination and Deviation of Basic Needs and Important Goods with a threat of 5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 50 billion.

Previously, members of the Macan Gading opsnal confiscated 74 boxes of cooking oil and arrested a suspected cooking oil hoarder and selling cooking oil above the highest retail price (HET).

Upon the arrest, his party confiscated a pickup truck and 34 boxes of Sinar Laut brand cooking oil, 6 boxes of Arwana brand cooking oil, 4 boxes of Resta brand cooking oil, and a large package of Rilma brand cooking oil.

In addition, 1 box of Duma brand cooking oil, 14 boxes of Tawon brand cooking oil, 1 box of Honest brand cooking oil, and 13 boxes of Filma brand cooking oil.
