Worried About Eliminating Evidence, Doni Salmanan's Suspension Of Detention Was Rejected

JAKARTA - Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police have rejected the application for a suspension of detention submitted by Doni Salmanan, a suspect in cases of gambling and online fraud through the Quotex application.

The Head of Sub-Directorate I of the Directorate of Cyber Crime, Bareskrim Polri Kombes Reinhard Hutagaol said the request was rejected on the grounds of subjective investigators who referred to the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

There are at least three reasons why investigators did not grant Doni Salmanan's request. Starting from the fear of running away to eliminating evidence.

"Subjective reasons according to the Criminal Procedure Code are fear of running away, obstructing the investigation and eliminating evidence," said Reindhard to the media crew, Tuesday, March 22.

Separately, Doni Salmanan's attorney, Ikbar Firdaus, agreed that the request submitted by his client had not been granted by investigators.

"It has not been granted (the request for suspension, ed)," he said when confirmed.

With this request for suspension not being granted, Doni Salmanan still has to languish in prison.

For information, in this case Doni Salmanan is suspected of Article 45 paragraph 1 junto 28 paragraph 1 of the ITE Law, Article 378 of the Criminal Code, and Article 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 8 of 2010 concerning the Eradication of Money Laundering.

Investigators have also confiscated several assets belonging to Doni Salmanan. Some of them, Porsche 911 Carerra 4S, Lamborghini, and BMW. Then, there are also assets in the form of two houses in the Bandung area, West Java. Then, eight big motorcycles (MOGE) of various brands.

The cash belonging to Doni Salmanan was also confiscated in the amount of Rp. 3.3 billion. The money came from one of his houses.
