The Entire East Kalimantan Region Is In The COVID-19 Red Zone

SAMARINDA - All areas in East Kalimantan Province have the status of a COVID-19 red zone, after the only area with the status of an orange zone, Mahakam Ulu, changed to a red zone status.

The spokesman for the East Kalimantan Province COVID-19 Task Force Andi Muhammad Ishak said in the daily case update, Mahakam Ulu Regency added six positive confirmed patients, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients in Mahakam Ulu to 52.

Andi revealed that overall the additional positive confirmed cases in East Kalimantan Province were still below the cure rate.

"The positive cases increased by 256 people, while the recovered cases increased by 1,006 people," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, March 18.

Andi explained that the highest additional cases occurred in Samarinda with 410 people, followed by Balikpapan 242, Berau 156, Paser 64, East Kutai 42, Kutai Kartanegara 39, Bontang 28, West Kutai 14, North Penajam Paser 12 1 person and Mahakam Ulu 1 person.

Meanwhile, additional positive confirmed cases occurred in Balikpapan 55 people, Bontang 45 people, Berau 34, Paser 32, Kutai Kartanegara 31, East Kutai 20, West Kutai 19, Samarinda 15, Mahakam Ulu 6 and Penajam North Paser 4 people.

Andi added that there were still five additional deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 5,651 people.

"In general, the development of cases continues to show a decreasing rate, currently the number of positive COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in the East Kalimantan region is 6,092 people," he explained.

Andi appealed to the public to remain orderly in carrying out health protocols, even though a number of tightening regulations by the Regional Government have begun to be lowered.

"We remind you that the spread of the virus is still happening, stay alert by not forgetting the prokes in daily activities," he said.
