GORONTALO - The Gorontalo Customs Office destroyed confiscated goods in the form of 170,370 tobacco or cigarette products and 52 bottles of alcoholic beverages in Gorontalo City, Gorontalo Province. by the Gorontalo Customs and Excise during 2020 and 2021. "It consists of 33 actions against illegal tobacco products and nine actions against drinks containing illegal ethyl alcohol," he said. In addition to tobacco products, Customs and Excise also destroyed 52 bottles of alcoholic beverages with a total value of goods. amounting to Rp112,546,000 and a potential loss to the state which is estimated at Rp92,087,370. Latif said that the extermination activities were clear evidence of the role and duties of Customs and Excise as protecting the public from illegal goods and also as a safeguard for state revenues. He added that basically Customs and Excise had provisions specifically as stipulated in the Un Law Number 11 of 1995 and has been changed to Law Number 39 of 2007 concerning Excise. method, namely by burning it for tobacco products in the form of cigarettes and by breaking it for alcoholic bottled drinks.
