The Tulungagung PUPR Project Corruption Suspect Pays Installments Of State Losses Of Rp.433 Million, This Is What Money Looks Like When Calculated

TULUNGAGUNG - AK, a suspect in the PUPR project corruption in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, paid an installment of Rp433 million in state losses to the Tulungagung District Attorney's Office.

The handover process was carried out by the suspect AK's attorney, Budi Handoko, and handed over to the Tulungagung Chief of Intelligence Section Chief Tri Radityo.

"With this return, all state losses due to the alleged corruption of the four road projects that he worked on in 2018 worth IDR 2.5 billion have been paid off," Agung said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 17.

The payment is a settlement. Previously, AK had paid installments of state losses four times since 2021 until now.

"If the case continues, next Sunday hopefully it will be stage two," said Agung.

Confirmed separately, Bambang Suhandoko's attorney said that his client's refund of state losses was a good faith gesture from AK.

"Later, there will be legal considerations that mitigate that. As for whether it is proven or not, everything will be proven in court," said Bambang.

The Public Prosecutor's Office has named AK as a suspect in alleged corruption since Tuesday (9/2). The Tulungagung Kejari alleged corruption within the PUPR Service after finding evidence indicating an overpayment of the four-way widening project in Tulungagung, causing state losses of billions of rupiah.

The four road sections in the 2018 fiscal year project that are suspected of being objects of corruption are Jeli-Picisan, Sendang-Penampihan, Boyolangu-Campurdarat, and Tenggong-Purwodadi.

The four roads are carried out by one operator. As a result of this reduction in road specifications, according to him, the quality of the roads has deteriorated.

The road that should have been strong for decades, in three years was already broken. To test the quality of this road, his party cooperates with ITN Malang.

As a result, AK as the project implementer is considered to have received an overpayment.

AK even admitted that he had been given time to pay the overpayment for 60 days, but this was not done so it was considered to have fulfilled the elements of a criminal act of corruption.
