6th Grade Elementary School Boy Drowns While Playing In The West Canal Flood River With His Three Friends

JAKARTA – Alfian, a 12-year-old boy was reported to have drowned in the West Flood Canal (BKB), Petamburan area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 16, afternoon.

According to Adit (16), a friend of Alfian, the 6th grader drowned after playing in the water on the edge of the BKB River with three of his friends.

"Alfian played in the water with three of his friends. Continued to push and push towards Kali. Alfian and his friend drowned, but one friend managed to survive and disappeared (run away). Meanwhile, the missing victim has not been found," said Adit to VOI at the location. .

Adit and nine other friends tried to find Alfian by swimming in the BKB river. But his efforts were not successful. Alfian was not found at that time.

"I just jumped in with my friends swimming and diving but I couldn't see it. I then saw Alfian's clothes on the side of the river. Then I went to Alfian's parents' house with clothes and said that Alfian had drowned in the BKB River," explained Adit.

Agus, Alfian's parents, immediately went to the scene to look for his son along with other Petamburan residents. But Alfian was never found.

Then Agus reported to the Bendungan Hilir Fire Station (Damkar) asking for help looking for his son who had drowned.

Head of the Tanah Abang Sector 2 Platoon, Fadil, confirmed the reports of Petamburan residents to the Benhil Fire Station.

"At 15.15 WIB there was information from residents. Coincidentally, the victim's parents were youth groups. He reported to the Bendungan Hilir fire station that his son had drowned in the BKB River," Fadil told VOI at the location.

Furthermore, Fadil deployed a rescue team with 7 personnel.

"We sent a rubber boat to search for the victim. The search will continue until Wednesday evening," he explained.

Fadil said the search was carried out starting from the location where the child disappeared from drowning in Kali near the train tracks.

"Initially there were two children drowned, one survived and one has not been found. The victim's initials are Alfian who have not been found," he said.

Furthermore, Fadil stated, his party will optimize the search from the starting point of the missing victim to the High Bridge, Tanah Abang.

"The radius of the search can be as far as 1 kilometer. The problem is that there is a lot of garbage that interferes with the engine of the rubber boat and the undercurrent is very strong." said Fadil.
