Sad News, Elderly Dominate COVID-19 Death Cases In Aceh

JAKARTA - The Aceh Health Service (Dinkes) said that the local people who died from COVID-19 infection were generally the elderly (elderly) who were over 60 years old and had comorbidities.

"The majority (COVID-19 patients) who die every day in Aceh are over the age of 60," said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Aceh Health Office, Iman Cheapman, in Banda Aceh, Tuesday, March 15.

He explained that the number of COVID-19 cases in Aceh continued to increase. However, 90 percent of the active cases of corona infection are only undergoing self-isolation, only a few of whom are undergoing treatment in hospital due to severe symptoms.

Likewise, he continued, the cases of death were generally the elderly group as well as having comorbidities. There were also patients of production age who died but had severe comorbidities ranging from hypertension to heart problems.

"Indeed, there are also severe comorbidities, affected by COVID-19, then it gets worse and tends to die," said Iman, quoted by Antara.

In addition, according to him, the history of COVID-19 vaccination also affects the mortality rate of COVID-19 patients.

According to him, many people who died tended not to carry out the COVID-19 vaccination, even if there was only the first dose of vaccine.

"So the possibility of dying is greater, the symptoms can be more severe because there is no vaccination," he said.

As of Monday (14/3) afternoon, data from the Aceh Health Service shows that there have been 43,363 COVID-19 cases in Aceh, of which 38,194 have recovered, 2,038 are still under treatment and self-isolation and 2,131 have died.

From this data, it shows that three patients with COVID-19 infection in Aceh have died per day, one each from Aceh Besar, Aceh Tamiang and Pidie Jaya.
