WONOSOBO - At least 40 landslides occurred in the Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, from Monday, March 14 evening to Tuesday, March 15 afternoon after rain in the area since Monday.

Head of the Wonosobo Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Bambang Triyono, said that landslides occurred in seven sub-districts, namely Kalibawang, Kepil, Kaliwiro, Watumalang, Wadaslintang, Mojotengah, and Sapuran.

"Due to the high rainfall since yesterday, many landslides have occurred," he said in Wonosobo, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 15.

He said that the area with the most landslides occurred in Kalibawang District, which had 13 points, then Wadaslintang with 10 points, while the other sub-districts averaged less than five points.

Bambang said in a number of these incidents there were landslides that blocked road access, hit houses, and also hit elementary school classrooms.

"Although there are many landslide points, they do not cause casualties," he said.

He conveyed that due to the landslide disaster, now BPBD together with residents, volunteers, TNI and Polri officers are working together to get rid of materials that are on the road or hit people's houses.

According to him, several points of roads that were blocked by landslides have been successfully opened, such as on the Wonosobo-Puworejo highway in Pundung Hamlet, Pacekelan Village, there are two landslide points and they have been resolved.

He appealed to people in landslide-prone areas to always be vigilant and careful because of the extreme weather in recent days.
