SIMPANG EMPAT - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra has established 31 units of temporary housing for victims affected by the earthquake in Talamau District.

"So far, 31 units have been prepared. The houses have been occupied by the beneficiaries", said PMI Pasaman Barat Disaster Response Operations Team Person in Charge, Dedy Ihram, at Simpang Empat, Monday, March 14.

He said that his party was continuing to approach all parties so that the initial target for the construction of 200 temporary housing units could be achieved.

The temporary housing was made for the category of affected people with the condition of their houses being heavily damaged in three Kejorongan areas in Nagari Kajai, Talamau District.

According to him, the data was obtained from an assessment by volunteers at the location of the affected community's settlements with measured data accuracy and was by the permanent disaster management procedures imposed by the PMI.

"We hope that the initial target can be realized as soon as possible so that the basic needs of the community can be met immediately and PMI can revoke the emergency response status to then proceed with the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase by the relevant parties", he hoped.

He explained that until Sunday, March 13 PMI West Pasaman had managed to collect donations for the construction of temporary housing of IDR 111,450,000.

"From PMI calculations, the number of funds can be allocated to build 90 residential units for victims affected by the West Pasaman earthquake", he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PMI Pasaman Barat, Risnawanto, appreciated and expressed his gratitude to the donors who have been willing to donate their sustenance to the disaster victims in the area.

"Hopefully, what we have done will be recorded as a good deed", he said.
