6 Months Chinese WN Prisoners Planning To Escape From Tangerang Prison

JAKARTA - The convict in the case of a Chinese citizen, Cai Chang Pan alias Antoni, is said to have planned to escape from the Tangerang Class I Prison six months ago. Antoni is known to have fled on Monday 14 September.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus said that his party knew Antoni had planned to run away after examining witnesses at the prison. His party also examined Antoni's cellmate.

"There is an indication from the cellmate's initial statement that he (Cai Chang Pan) has made (an escape attempt) for approximately 5 to 6 months using several tools that we have confiscated," Yusri told reporters, Monday, September 21. .

According to Yusri, the tools confiscated included screwdrivers. "The tool was obtained from near the excavation, there is a kitchen. We are still conducting joint investigations according to the permission of the head of prison," he said.

On this occasion he said that apart from examining Antoni's cellmate, the police had also examined the prison officer who was on guard or who was in charge.

"There are several things we have done to ask for information, both the prison officers themselves and the prisoners who are in the same cell as those concerned," said Yusri.

In this case, the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) has written to Immigration to block Antoni. So, he will not be able to escape abroad.

"Efforts that have been made are a letter of request sent to the Director General of Immigration so that he / she is assigned to a person-banned list or a list of bans," said the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of PAS, Rika Aprianti.

Meanwhile, Chai Chang Pan alias Antoni managed to escape from the Tangerang Class I Prison on Monday, September 14. He escaped by making a hole in the wall and entering the sewer. Where in the cell is found a screwdriver.

Quoted from the Supreme Court (MA) directory, Cai Chang Pan alias Antoni was sentenced to death by the Tangerang District Court on July 19, 2017 for a drug case. This death row inmate then submitted an appeal to the Banten High Court on September 28, 2017, but was rejected.

Cai Chang Pan was found guilty of a case of methamphetamine-type drugs with 1,135 plastic packs of evidence. The total weight of methamphetamine is stated in the court decision to reach 135 kilograms.
