ACEH - The Pango Raya Gampong (village) community, Ulee Kareng sub-district, Banda Aceh, Aceh Province, together with students and members of the TNI, cleaned a number of ancient tombs in the local area.

"Alhamdulillah, today thanks to the help of students and members of the TNI, we have worked together to clean this ancient tomb," said Keuchik Gampong (Village Head) Pango Raya Askari in Banda Aceh, Antara, Friday, March 11.

He said that a number of ancient tombs were estimated to be around 600 years ago but so far they have not been taken care of. There are even some headstones that have fallen to the ground so that they need to be rebuilt.

"If we look at this historic tomb no less than 600 years ago, this is where I played when I was little, and thank God it's clean again," he said.

Askari thanked the TNI members and students who had been willing to work together to clean up historical places like this.

He hopes that positive activities like this will continue to be carried out, because there are still many ancient burial points that must be cleaned and received good care.

"Hopefully we can clear up another spot, and continue to care for this old grave that has a lot of history," Askari said.

Previously, the Deputy Chairman of the Community Concerned for History (Mapesa) Masykur Syafruddin said that currently there are still thousands of historical complexes in Aceh, but many are abandoned because the government is not serious about saving them.

"Cleaning this historical place is a homework for all people and especially the Aceh government," he said.

It is hoped that all people will always pay attention to history, so that the track record of past Aceh events is not lost and is maintained properly, said Masykur Syafruddin.
