Doctor Sunardi Shot Dead Densus IDI Member, Denny Siregar: Don't Be Surprised, Wong At MUI Has A Leader

JAKARTA - Social media activist Denny Siregar asked the public not to relax their attitude towards acts of terrorism by questioning the terrorism suspect, Doctor Sunardi, who was shot dead by the Anti-terror Detachment 88 Team.

Denny thinks that doctors or any professional organization can be infiltrated by radical movements. Likewise Sunardi who is a member of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI).

"Don't be surprised if he's a member of IDI," said Denny Siregar via his Twitter account on Friday, March 11.

Denny claims that radicals have also spread to many organizations and even the national sharia board that often issues fatwas, namely the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Denny also asked the public not to be surprised.

"Wong at MUI there are terrorist kingpins," he added.

Due to the police's efforts to detect Dr Sunardi, who was later identified as a member of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI), and finally paralyzed him on the evening of Wednesday 9 March, Denny requested that IDI strictly screen its members who are involved in radical networks.

"It's better if IDI starts to close ranks, so that no one else infiltrates this doctor's organization," he said.

The suspect in the terrorism case, Doctor Sunardi, was shot dead by the Anti-terror Detachment 88 Team in Sukoharjo, Central Java, on the evening of Wednesday 9 March. Doctor Sunardi is known to be in charge of the banned foundation, Hilal Ahmar Society.

The Hilal Ahmar Society was declared banned because its activities at the foundation were deemed to support acts of terrorism. The foundation's decision was prohibited based on a decision by the Chairman of the Central Jakarta District Court in 2015.

"The person concerned has also served as a solemn emir, his position is deputy for da'wah and information and the person concerned is the advice of the Amir of JI," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Friday, March 11.
