Floods In Pamekasan Expand To Two Villages

PAMEKASAN - Floods caused by overflowing rivers in Pamekasan, East Java, starting Thursday night, began to spread to two urban villages, namely Gladak Anyar Village and Parteker Village, Pamekasan.

"Initially it was only in the Gladak Anyar Village, but now the floods have also begun to inundate some residential areas in the Parteker Village," said the Coordinator of the Rapid Response Team (TRC) of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Pamekasan Regency Government, Budi Cahyono, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 10.

In addition to inundating residential areas, flooding due to overflowing rivers in the Parteker Village also inundated the Parteker Traditional Market on Jalan Cokroatmojo Pamekasan.

The height of the inundation is between 20 to 30 cm, and some have begun to enter the yards of people's homes, especially those who live near the Kalikloang River flow.

Currently, residents affected by the flood are seen starting to pack their belongings in their homes to safer places.

A number of officers from BPBD, police, TNI and disaster management volunteers were also seen on guard, monitoring the development of flood currents from the Kalikloang river which overflowed into residential areas in Parteker Village, Pamekasan.

Previously, the flood caused by the overflow of the Kalikloang River only inundated residential areas in the Gladak Anyar Village, Pamekasan.

Floods in this sub-district occurred at four points, with a total of 39 families affected.

Respectively at Rt03/Rw 06, Rt02/Rw 07, Rt 03/Rw 07 and at Rt 02/Rw 06.

"Only Rt03/Rw06 have flooded residents' yards if others have entered people's homes," said TRC BPBD member officer Pamekasan Zaini at the flood site.
