Golkar Ketum Political Parties Need To Meet To Discuss Election Postponement, Surya Paloh: NasDem Reluctant To Be Proactive

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, stated that his party was reluctant to be proactive in initiating a meeting between general chairmen of political parties to discuss the discourse of postponing the 2024 General Election.

According to him, NasDem's attitude is still the same as before, namely firmly rejecting the proposal. Although his party is also monitoring developments that will occur in the future.

"I'm not taking a proactive position. I've explained the NasDem party's clear stance in the public eye, but if I was asked as a senior brother, of course I have to take the initiative. We'll see how it develops in the future," said Surya Paloh after a meeting with the General Chair. Airlangga Hartarto's Golkar party at Nasdem Tower, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 10.

Nevertheless, Surya considered, this issue does not need to be discussed continuously. Even if the proposal continues to be rolled out, he said, NasDem would appreciate it.

"There is no prolonged discourse. If indeed the parties can believe in me that the conception of the offer, this idea can work and be continued, NasDem appreciates it," he said.

Previously, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, assessed that the general chairmen of political parties should meet to discuss the continuation of the proposed postponement of the 2024 General Election.

According to him, discussions regarding this matter need to be carried out. Because according to Airlangga, Indonesia adheres to a system of deliberation and consensus.

"This needs to be discussed by consensus between party leaders. We are not a western model, but an Indonesian model, people are for consensus, consensus is for gotong royong," said Airlangga.
