SEMARANG - Central Java collaborated with the provincial National Zakat Charity Agency (Baznas) to conduct a training for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in the Motorcycle Mechanics Sector throughout the Central Java Province.
The event, which took place March 9-12, 2021, at the Central Java State Vocational School in Semarang City, was also facilitated by venues and trainers from the school.
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said workshop training for people with disabilities was an effort from the provincial government and the Central Java Provincial Baznas.
"We are trying to help people with disabilities to be independent. The spirit of Baznas helps productive businesses," said Ganjar in his statement, Thursday, March 10.
In the future, he hopes that the training participants can get assistance until they actually graduate. So, their economy can go up class. After technical training, Ganjar continued, participants can be trained in managerial so that they can become entrepreneurs.
"So that his independence really becomes complete. They become entrepreneurs," he said.
Chairman of the Central Java Baznas KH Ahmad Darodji said the training was attended by around 60 participants. They will take part in motorcycle engine repair training. Previously, this activity had also been carried out with around 50 participants.
“Participants are from Central Java, the disability community. So that they don't stay awake (rely on others), but be independent,” said Darodji at the training location.
It is also possible that his party will conduct motorcycle training with a hybrid engine. So, in the future they can be independent from an economic point of view. Moreover, Baznas also has other assistance, such as capital assistance, and others.
A disabled participant in the training, Sutrisno, admitted that the training gave him the opportunity to gain additional abilities.
“The reason for training is for additional skills. Create additional skills. There is an additional economy," said the man from Wonosobo Regency.
He is well aware that his daily life as an electronic service worker is affected by the pandemic. Because, not many people want to service electronic devices to him.
“By participating in this (training), we can alternate. If the original profession (electronic service worker) is empty, I can move to this," he said.
