MEDAN - Two village officials in South Nias (Nisel) Regency, North Sumatra, were arrested by the police. Both were arrested for molesting high school students aged 17 to 5 months pregnant.

South Nias Police Chief AKBP Reinhard H Nainggolan through Paur Subdivision of Public Relations Bripda Aydi Mashur said the two arrested perpetrators were the village treasurer, initials ZH (33) and village secretary, Initials YZ (30).

Bripda Aydi explained that this case was first revealed when the victim's parents took him to the hospital, Friday, March 4. At that time, the victim experienced nausea.

"When the doctor checked her health, it turned out that the victim was 5 months pregnant. From there, it was known that the child had been molested by the perpetrator," said Bripda Aydi, Tuesday, March 8.

Knowing that their child was molested, the victim's parents immediately reported it to the police. Investigators then hunted for the perpetrator and arrested him while on Jalan Pancasila, Gomo District, South Nias.

"The two perpetrators admitted their actions. ZH did it in 2021, but he forgot the month and date," he explained.

Bripda Aydi said that during the action, the perpetrator ZH initially contacted the victim to come to his house. When the victim arrived, ZH then seduced him and invited him to his room.

To the police, ZH admitted that he was desperate to do it because of lust. YZ also used a similar mode when he molested the victim. YZ committed the lewd act in 2021 by contacting the victim to come to his house.

"Arriving at the suspect's house, the victim was immediately pulled to the side of the house. Then the suspect had intercourse with the victim," he explained.

“The suspect YZ admitted that at the time, he had been widowed for a long time and felt lonely. Then want to express his desire," he said.

When carrying out their actions, the two perpetrators did not threaten the victim.

"The suspect only seduced, then then gave some money to the victim," he said.

Due to this incident, the two suspects must now languish in detention for further legal proceedings.

"They are subject to Article 81 paragraphs 1 and 2 of Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years," he said.
