PAMEKASAN - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Pamekasan Regency, East Java, conveyed an early warning of the possibility of further flooding in this area, due to heavy rains that flushed the northern region of the Madura Island area.

"This is important for us to convey so that people living in flood-prone areas in Pamekasan City increase their vigilance," said Pamekasan Regency BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) Coordinator Budi Cahyono, quoted by Antara, Monday, March 7.

Budi explained, based on reports submitted by TRC personnel and disaster management volunteers in the field, currently the condition of the river water in Palengaan is getting higher and the current is getting heavier, due to the rain that has occurred in Karangpenang Sampang District, since Monday morning.

"Because some of the flow from Karang Penang District, Sampang also goes to the river that goes to Pamekasan," said Budi.

Therefore, continued Budi, if it rains heavily in the northern region of Pamekasan, then the potential for consignment flooding can also occur in this area.

"During the flood from March 1 to March 3 yesterday, there was also a flood in Sampang City, the same as in Pamekasan," he said.

Budi explained that his party asked people who live in flood-prone areas, namely along the Kalikamoning and Kalikoang rivers, to increase their vigilance.

"We have also dispatched a team to monitor the latest developments, so that if a flood occurs, it can be anticipated immediately," he said.
