West Jakarta Mayor Ensures Mini Soccer Tournament to Be an Annual Agenda

JAKARTA - The 2026 West Jakarta Mayor's Cup Mini Soccer Tournament officially ended on the third day and the last day of implementation at Merujanya Sport Park. The closing of the tournament was held in a festive atmosphere with high enthusiasm from the community who crowded the match area to watch the final match and exhibition match.

The Mayor of West Jakarta, Iin Mutmainnah, said he was grateful that all the activities went smoothly and received a positive response from the community.

"Alhamdulillah, today is the third day and the last day and final day of the 2026 mini soccer tournament. It's amazing, it's exciting!" said Iin on the sidelines of the activity.

Iin expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the tournament, especially the Chairman of the Committee, Umar Abdul Aziz, who was considered successful in presenting an exhibition match between Persija Glory and Palma FC.

"They played so amazingly, as did the participants from Palma. Everyone performed brilliantly, and I think this is a special happiness," he said.

According to Iin, the high enthusiasm of the community is one of the indicators of the success of the tournament. Residents from various age groups attended to watch the match, including participants aged up to 50 years old who are still active on the field.

"The community is present, the residents are present, from children to adults. The one who played was 50 years old. So it's amazing, I'm very happy and grateful that today's activities can be completed very well," he said.

He assessed that the tournament was an effective means to encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle through sports. The existence of Merujanya Sport Park is also considered to provide adequate space for residents to engage in physical activity.

"This place was given by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Merujanya Sport Park, which is a valuable place for the community to exercise," explained Iin.

In addition to the mini soccer field, the area is also equipped with other sports facilities such as basketball courts and running tracks that can be used by the community.

On that occasion, Iin also highlighted the strong synergy between agencies in the West Jakarta area, which was seen from the presence of a number of regional leaders and elements of the City Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimko).

"Forkopimko is present with me, the Head of the West Jakarta District Court, and they all support it fully. There is Mr. Dandim, Mrs. Kajari, the Head of the Land Office, the Head of the Immigration Office, and other leaders. They all support, even participate as participants," he said.

Furthermore, Iin revealed that the West Jakarta Mayor's Cup Mini Soccer Tournament is planned to be a regular annual agenda that will be held in conjunction with the anniversary of the City of Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta District Court, Moehammad Pandji Santoso, assessed that the tournament had historical and educational value, especially with the presence of Persija Jakarta legends who also enlivened the exhibition match.

"Their presence is a special attraction, making the public still enthusiastic about loving football and upholding sportsmanship. The spirit of the legends teaches us how to maintain honor in competing, and we salute the initiative of the Mayor's mother who continues to move the community to live healthy through sports," he said.

Before the final match took place, the committee presented an exhibition match between Persija Glory and Palma FC. The Persija Glory team was strengthened by a number of former Persija players and legends, including Ismed Sofyan, Luciano Leandro, Nuralim, Joko Kuspito, W Akmal, Hary Saputra, Dedi Sutrisno, Mulki Hakim, Umar Abdul Aziz, Warsidi, Jalal Jalil, Hendra Nazir and Riko Ceper.

The match was intense from the first minute. Persija Glory managed to open the lead first before Palma FC equalised. Entering the second half, both teams made a number of substitutions. Persija Glory then scored again and maintained the lead until the end of the match.

The exhibition match ended with Persija Glory's victory over Palma FC with a score of 2-1.
