JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 together with the Ministry of Religion is discussing the rules for activities including worship during the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr this year.

Head of the Data and Information Technology Division of the COVID-19 Task Force, Dewi Nur Aisyah, said that this regulation was prepared to suppress the spread of COVID-19 because there is the potential for increasing community mobility.

"Until now, we are still in discussion, although it's the same thing, the project cannot actually be released, what has been dropped is in Java and Bali, not outside Java-Bali, so it must also be considered when making policy," Dewi said in the virtual discussion, Monday, March 7.

Dewi said the rules for worship during Ramadan and Eid which will be issued by the government are not much different from the policies of the previous year.

"So for now it is still being discussed, more or less we reflect on previous experiences, we already have several standards, if the prokes are already standardized by the Ministry of Religion," said Dewi.

Dewi asked the public to comply with the policy of limiting activities during the fasting month until Eid which will be published later.

"Later on in the field, the implementation will also need help from the community. When you have to keep your distance, you will be afraid of being in close-knit mosques. Now, finally, there are other conditions that can actually carry the potential for transmitting the virus to vulnerable groups and fatalities," she said.

For information, in the month of Ramadan last year, the government issued a regulation limiting the capacity of 50 percent of people to worship in mosques. Then, there must be a safe distance of 1 meter and each congregation brings their own worship equipment.

Furthermore, recitations, lectures, tausiah, or Ramadan cults, and dawn lectures are carried out with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. Then, the commemoration of the Nuzulul Qur'an at the mosque was carried out with a 50 percent capacity limit and implementing strict health protocols.
