JAKARTA - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Indonesia ensures that Rohingya refugees stranded in Alue Buya Pasie Village, Jangka Sub-district, Bireuen Regency, Aceh, receive medical treatment starting from COVID-19 tests and others.
"In addition to the COVID-19 test, other medical examinations were also carried out, because we prioritize the health of the refugees," said UNHCR Indonesia Communication Associate Dwi Anisa Prafitria, quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 6.
Dwi Anisa said that currently UNHCR staff are at the evacuation site and continue to coordinate with all relevant parties in Aceh for further handling.
As a first step, said Dwi Anisa, UNHCR will immediately conduct a COVID-19 examination in accordance with the applicable protocol.
"If later there are those who test positive for COVID-19, they will be quarantined separately," he said.
Not only health checks, said Dwi Anisa, UNHCR also provides several other assistances for the needs of the Rohingya refugees.
"We also provide aid such as food, drinking water, and medicine for the refugees," said Dwi Anisa.
Regarding the transfer of refugees, his party is still coordinating with all relevant parties, while waiting for the results of their COVID-19 tests to come out.
