5 People Injured Due To Ornaments Falling At Lippo Mall Kemang When Jakarta Was Hit By Strong Winds

JAKARTA - South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budhi Herdi Susianto said five people were injured by ornaments on the ceiling of Lippo Mall Kemang, South Jakarta, when strong winds hit.

"There are no fatalities. There are only a few people with minor injuries," said Kombes Budhi Herdi Susianto, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 5.

Kombes Budhi said that when the ornament fell, the mall was not too crowded and there were no visitors who reported it because they only suffered minor injuries.

"So not all of them are counted because they feel their injuries are light, many don't report it. So we haven't calculated for sure because it happened so quickly and because of minor injuries, they were walking again. Incidentally, it wasn't too crowded at that time," he said.

Kombes Budhi also straightened out the news that the ceiling of the Lippo Mall Kemang atrium collapsed.

He said that one of the ornaments installed on the ceiling of Lippo Mall Kemang fell.

"So based on a crime scene check conducted by our members, it was not a ceiling, but an ornament attached with cement attached with cement, it came off and fell," said Budhi.

Meanwhile, Public Relations of PT Lippo Mall Indonesia, Nidia N Ichsan said there were five injured in the incident.

"It is reported that there are five injured victims of this incident which are being handled by the management," said Nidia in a written statement.

He also said that currently Lippo Mall Kemang has returned to normal operations.
