398 Thousand Honorary Staff Will Receive A Salary Subsidy Of IDR 2.4 Million

JAKARTA - The government will provide salary subsidies, amounting to Rp. 600 thousand per month for four months to 398 thousand honorarium workers with salaries under Rp. 5 million, who are active participants of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan or BP Jamsostek.

Chairman of the National Economic Recovery Task Force Budi Gunadi Sadikin said, of the 15 million workers registered with the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan beneficiaries, around 398 thousand are honorary workers.

Furthermore, Budi explained, until now the government has distributed the first and second batch of salary subsidies. Budi hopes that by the end of September the distribution of the third to fifth batch of salary subsidies can be carried out.

"And for the honorary staff of 398,000, there will be a second batch that will be distributed in October-November," he said, in a virtual press conference, Wednesday, September 16.

Budi said that this honorarium worker must be an active participant of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in accordance with the provisions written in the Minister of Manpower's regulation as a condition for receiving assistance. According to Budi, this assistance is an appreciation for workers who are obedient to payment of dues.

"Because indeed we need complete data as well as an appreciation from the government for dues payment and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants," he said.

The government previously distributed salary subsidies to private employees with a stipulated salary of less than IDR 5 million. Budi said that this program had been distributed in two stages with the realization of a budget of nearly IDR 8 trillion.

It is planned that this salary subsidy program will target 15.7 million employees registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

The distribution of salary subsidy assistance is given to workers or employees in the amount of IDR 600,000 per month for four months, or a total of IDR 2.4 million, which will be given every two months. This means that in one disbursement, workers will receive a subsidy of Rp1.2 million.
