Food Prices Start To Rise Ahead Of Ramadan, Deputy Governor Of DKI: Hopefully Still In Reason

JAKARTA - Prices of basic necessities have started to increase ahead of the month of Ramadan and Eid. This happens in almost every area, including DKI Jakarta.

The Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, has predicted this. He also hopes that the increase in food prices in the capital is still within reason.

"Even if there is an increase in prices, we hope that the price is still within reasonable limits and can be purchased according to the purchasing power of the people," Riza said in a statement, as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 3.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has prepared a way to maintain the price of basic necessities at a normal level. The first way, said Riza, is to conduct market operations.

Then, by collaborating with the Logistics Affairs Agency (Bulog), both central and regional. "So that DKI Jakarta food prices can be affordable," said the Gerinda Party politician.

Previously, Governor Anies Baswedan linked the phenomenon of rising food prices in Jakarta to domestic and international.

"We realize that there are supply shifts out there due to both domestic and international effects that are currently happening," he said.

He said that food supply security activities in DKI Jakarta run throughout the year. Moreover, the DKI Provincial Government has a division of tasks for BUMD (Regional Owned Enterprises) which are responsible for managing supply (supply).

Then there is the SKPD which is responsible for managing demand. Anies said that when demand and supply are controlled, food prices are also under control.

He also ensured that his party will continue to monitor closely related to food supply so that its existence can continue to be guaranteed.

He also appealed to all Jakartans to monitor food price developments through the official website of the Jakarta Provincial Government at infopangan.jakarta.go.id. The page has described the average price of each basic food need in Jakarta.

"That way the public can know what the real average price is in Jakarta. So that when they buy, when they sell, they will be able to adjust to the price info," he said.
