Yusril Asks Minister Of Religion To Be Wise, Consider The Impact When Communicating To The Public

JAKARTA - Constitutional law expert Yusril Ihza Mahendra asked the Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Quomas to be careful in giving statements in public spaces.

This was conveyed by Yusril following the polemic that arose because of the Minister of Religion's statement regarding the 'Azan loudspeaker' some time ago. Don't add to this new problem that starts with words and words. Be wise!" Yusril wrote on his Twitter account, @Yusrilihza_Mhd, quoted on Tuesday, March 1.

Yusril asked the Minister of Religion in communicating in the public sphere to consider its impact broadly. He reminded that as a state or government official, the expression given to the public should be soothing.

"All the words that are made must be careful, gentle and uphold politeness and manners. Soothing words are awaited by the people of all religions from the Minister of Religion. Every policy that will be taken also needs to be deeply considered in all its impacts. ," he said.

According to him, the Minister of Religion as the leader of the ministry in charge of religion has an important role in making the situation calm and conducive. Therefore, Yusril emphasized that the Minister of Religion should maintain harmony in the community by giving a calm statement.

"Organizing and encouraging a peaceful, safe and peaceful religious life in the midst of diversity is the main task of the Ministry of Religion. Therefore, the Minister of Religion should be able to invite all religious people to live side by side in peace and respect each other's differences," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Religion issued Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of Religion Number 05 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for the Use of Loudspeakers in Mosques and Musala. The SE has become a hot topic of discussion in the community and has invited the pros and cons lately.

Launching Kemenag.go.id, the following is the contents of SE Menag 05/2022:

a. Loudspeakers consist of internal and external loudspeakers. Internal loudspeakers are loudspeakers that are functioned/directed into the mosque/musala room. While the external loudspeakers are used/directed to the outside of the mosque/musala.

b. The use of loudspeakers in mosques/musalas has the following objectives: reminding the public through the recitation of the Qur'an, prayers on the prophet, and the sound of the call to prayer as a sign of entering the time for fardu prayers; convey the voice of the muezzin to the congregation when the call to prayer, the voice of the imam to the congregation when praying in congregation, or the voice of the preacher and lecturer to the congregation; and deliver da'wah to the wider community both inside and outside the mosque/musala.

SE Minister of Religion 05/2022 also regulates the installation and use of loudspeakers. The provisions are as follows:

1. The installation of loudspeakers is separated between loudspeakers that are functioned outside and loudspeakers that are functioned inside the mosque/musala;

2. To get optimal sound results, good acoustic settings should be made;

3. The loudspeaker volume is adjusted according to need, and the maximum is 100 dB (one hundred decibels); and

4. In the case of using loudspeakers with recording playback, attention should be paid to the quality of the recording, the timing, and the final reading of the verse, selawat/tarhim.
