Jokowi Asks TNI-Polri Wives Not To Invite Radical Lecturers

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo reminded the TNI-Polri ranks to maintain discipline. Not only that, this discipline must also be applied to the family of the apparatus.

Jokowi said this when attending the TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting (Rapim) at the TNI Headquarters Plaza, Cilangkap, East Jakarta. One of the things that Jokowi asked for was that the wives of the TNI-Polri could not arbitrarily invite lecturers.

"In my opinion, the women can't call, gather other women, summon speakers at will in the name of democracy. Again, in the army, in the police you can't do that. Must be coordinated by the unit, the little things, macro and micro. If you invite radical preachers, be careful," said Jokowi, Tuesday, March 1.

Jokowi then gave another example of discipline. The ranks of the TNI and Polri must also maintain speech in speaking, especially on digital platforms. They, continued Jokowi, could not carelessly comment on government policies.

"Small things have to be disciplined. In WhatsApp groups, be careful, if this is allowed and continue, be careful. For example, talking about IKN, if you don't agree with IKN, it has been decided by the government and has been approved by the DPR. in the discipline of the TNI-Polri, it can no longer be debated," he said. Jokowi emphasized that this discipline for the TNI and Polri is important and cannot be equated with civilians. The TNI and Polri are also not allowed to deal in matters of democracy.

"There is no such thing as a soldier whose name is the police, who participates in democratic affairs. There is no democracy in the army. There is no such thing as a subordinate feeling free, not the same as a superior, eh, you can't. Listen, talking about democracy is not in the army and the police. , no," said Jokowi.

"The discipline of the TNI and Polri is different from civilians and is limited by the rules of the leadership. All over the world, the army has its own rules. The law on military discipline is based on loyalty and uprightness," he continued.
