SERANG - In order to improve public compliance and discipline in traffic and reduce the number of traffic accident violations and the spread of COVID-19, the Banten Police will hold a Regional Police Operation with the code "Maung 2022 Safety Operation" which will be carried out for 14 days.

Dirlantas Polda Banten Kombes Pol Budi Mulyanto explained that Maung 2022 Safety Operation activities will start from March 1 to March 14 2022 in all jurisdictions of the Banten Police.

"This activity will be carried out for 14 days starting from March 1 to March 14, 2022 by prioritizing humanist pre-emptive and preventive activities," said Budi Mulyanto in his statement, Sunday, February 27.

Budi Mulyanto said his party would deploy as many as 650 personnel in the 2022 Maung Safety Operation.

"In this operation, we will involve a force of 650 personnel from the Banten Police and the Regional Police," said Budi Mulayanto.

The objective of the 2022 Maung Safety Operation is to create a safe, orderly and smooth traffic situation in locations prone to accidents, violations and traffic jams.

"It is hoped that this operation will increase public order and compliance in traffic and increase community discipline in complying with health protocols," said Budi Mulyanto.

Budi Mulyanto said the main target of the Maung 2022 Safety Operation was to suppress seven types of traffic violations. In addition, it also creates an orderly traffic situation and oversees the implementation of health protocols in the jurisdiction of the Banten Police.

The following are 7 targets for violations of Operation Maung Safety 2022 that the police will take action against:

1. Motor vehicle drivers who use cell phones.

The provisions for the prohibition of using mobile phones are regulated in Article 283 of the LLAJ Law with the threat of 3 months imprisonment or a maximum fine of Rp. 750 thousand.

2. Drivers of motorized vehicles are underage.

Underage drivers will be subject to Article 281 of the LLA Law with a threat of 4 months imprisonment or a maximum fine of IDR 1 million.

3. Not using an SNI helmet.

Article 291 with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 1 month or a fine of a maximum of Rp. 250 thousand.

4. Riding more than 1 person.

Subject to Article 292 in conjunction with Article 106 paragraph (9) with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 1 month or a fine of a maximum of Rp. 250 thousand.

5. Driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Article 331 with a maximum imprisonment of 1 year or a maximum fine of Rp. 3 million

6. Go Against the Flow.

Article 287 paragraph (1) with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 2 months or a fine of a maximum of Rp. 500 thousand.

7. Motorized vehicle drivers who do not use a safety belt.

Article 289 with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 1 month or a fine of a maximum of IDR 250 thousand.

At the end, Budi Mulyanto added that personnel carry out regulating, guarding, escorting and patrolling traffic in places or locations prone to violations, accidents and traffic jams.

"In the implementation of the Maung 2022 Safety operation, the enforcement of traffic violations (tickets) is replaced with a warning," he said.

The personnel who carry out the Maung 2022 Safety Operation will continue to follow the health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
