Good News From The Ministry Of Health, Hospital Occupancy For Handling COVID-19 Drops To 36 Percent

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, has good news. Siti said the hospital occupancy rate related to the handling of COVID-19 fell to 36 percent, from the previous 37 percent.

He added that the daily confirmed cases of COVID-19 also fell to 46,643 cases per day from the previously recorded 49,477 daily cases on Friday, February 25.

In addition, another indicator showing improvement is the positivity rate which fell to 17.93 percent on Friday, February 25 from the previous day at 19.94 percent.

"Several indicators of COVID-19 control continue to show improvement. This is the result of our joint collaboration to be able to control the pandemic, break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 and move towards the COVID-19 endemic era," he said in a press release quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 27.

Nadia said the government continues to make efforts to keep the number of cases down, including by accelerating and expanding vaccination coverage.

The Ministry of Health has also shortened the interval of giving three or booster doses, both for the elderly and the general public, to three months after receiving primary vaccination.

"The government continues to strive to accelerate vaccination coverage, one of which is by reducing the interval of giving primary and secondary doses of vaccination to three months for the elderly and the general public over the age of 18," he said.

He added that someone who has not received the vaccine is at all risk of contracting COVID-19 with severe symptoms.

"We know that patients with the most severe symptoms and at risk of death are those who have not received a complete vaccination or have not been vaccinated at all," he said.

In addition, the elderly and those with a history of comorbidities are also vulnerable to being infected with COVID-19 with severe symptoms to death.

"Coupled with the elderly and having a history of comorbidities, the risk of severe symptoms and death from COVID-19 infection increases," said Siti Nadia Tarmizi.
