The New Color of the Security Guard Uniform Looks Like a Police Uniform

JAKARTA - The National Police decided to change the security guard's uniform. Initially, the uniform was a white shirt and dark blue pants. Now, the appearance is similar to a police officer with a brown color.

Karo Penmas of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said that the change is in accordance with the Chief of Police Regulation Number 4 of 2020, about self-contained safety regarding the color change of security guards.

"So there are five types of security guard members' official clothing based on their rank. Namely, the first daily official clothing or PDH. Second, the PDL special field service clothes. The third one, field service outfit or PDL 1. Four, daily civilian clothes or PSH. Five complete civil uniform or PSL," Awi told reporters, Monday, September 14.

According to Awi, changing the uniform doesn't violate any rules. The uniform arrangements and rules for security guards are regulated in the Chief of Police Regulation number 24 of 2007 concerning the security management system for company organizations and/or government agencies.

Besides, the brown color on the security guard uniform has a philosophy. The color means earth, wood, and stone, which means natural colors.

"Chocolate is a neutral color. It symbolizes the simplicity of the foundation, stability, warmth, a sense of security, and comfort, as well as a sense of grace, fortitude and honesty," he said.

The following are the Police's four hopes in the new security guard uniform:

- There is an emotional closeness between the Police and the security guard.

- Fostering security guard pride as a developer of limited police functions.

- Glorify the security guard profession.

- Increase the performance of the police function amid society.
