Affirmation Of KPK Chairman Firli: I Have No Other Thoughts Except Serving The Country And Completing Work

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri asserted that he had no intention other than completing his position until December 2023.

He conveyed this through his Twitter account @firlibahuri in response to various public opinions, including the accusation that he was seeking votes for certain purposes. Moreover, in recent times billboards have appeared with anti-corruption messages with a picture of his face, which it is not known who installed it.

"I myself have emphasized that in December 2023 I will end this country's duties at the KPK," Firli wrote on her Twitter account quoted on Wednesday, February 23.

The former deputy for prosecution of the Corruption Eradication Commission said that he had no intention other than to serve the country by working as the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission.

"I have no other thoughts but to serve the country and complete my work as chairman of the KPK," he said.

Firli said that even if someone mentions his name to advance in the upcoming contest, it is only the voice of a small current. So that people do not need to worry because he is now focused on serving the KPK.

"That's the way it is, friends, especially those who are worried by a small part of the community who mention my name here and there. It's just the voice of a small current in the people below. And that's an extraordinary new tradition," he said.

For information, Firli Bahuri's name has recently been in the spotlight. Apart from having billboards posted, he was also highlighted for giving an award to his wife, Ardina Safitri, who created the KPK hymn and march.

The two mandatory songs for KPK personnel were released on Thursday, 17 February. As the creator, Ardina explained that the two songs are full of meaning and messages, including inviting KPK personnel to continue to serve to realize a corruption-free Indonesia.

Not only that, she admitted that she was proud to be able to participate in eradicating corruption by making marches and hymns for the institution led by her husband.

"Pride for a citizen is to be able to serve and contribute, no matter how small, no matter how simple, to participate in advancing and prospering the nation, one of which is through eradicating corruption," said Dina in a written statement from the KPK, Thursday, February 17.
