Lampung Regional Police Chief Ensures That Syekh Ali Jaber's Da'wah Activities In Lampung Continue

JAKARTA - The Head of Lampung Regional Police, Inspector General of Police, Purwadi Arianto, confirmed that the activities of preaching or spreading religion carried out by Sheikh Ali Jaber in his area will continue until his program in this province is completed.

"Matters related to Sheikh Ali Jaber's activities in Lampung will continue because the government guarantees freedom of preaching as long as it is in accordance with the prevailing health protocols," said Chief of Police Purwadi Arianto, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 14.

In addition, he will facilitate the security of Sheikh Ali Jaber during preaching.

"The activity concerned in Lampung will continue until it is finished here, there is no stopping the event because his physical condition is still healthy and we will facilitate it," he said.

After the stabbing, Sheikh Ali Jaber immediately continued his da'wah program at another place in Bandarlampung.

Purwadi emphasized that after the attack, the police would further tighten the guard, whether it was a closed or open event to avoid an unwanted incident like this from happening again.

"At the scene of the case, there were actually officers on guard, but at that event the perpetrator suddenly attacked the victim," he said.

He said that the perpetrator of the stabbing Syekh Ali Jaber was a 24-year-old man who lived not far from the crime scene (TKP) at the Falahuddin Mosque, Sukajawa Village, Tanjung Karang Barat District (TKB), Bandarlampung City.

"The distance between the perpetrator's house and the crime scene was about 300 meters and according to the AA's confession, he brought a knife from the house," he said.

Syekh Ali Jaber suffered a stab wound 4 centimeters deep and security and medication had been taken.

Purwadi said the police were still examining the perpetrator's psyche. Based on the information of the perpetrator's parents, the person concerned has mental disorders. However, he said, the police could not take this confession for granted.

The Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Bandarlampung Police, was proactive by inviting doctors from the mental hospital to check the psychology of the perpetrators.

"Currently, the initial observation has been carried out from the perpetrator and tomorrow we will officially give a visum to a mental hospital for further examinations," he said.

The perpetrator has also undergone a urine examination which was negative from the influence of prohibited items.

Meanwhile, he continued, the motive for the perpetrator to attack Seykh Ali Jaber was still being investigated by the police from Criminal Investigation.

"For the motive, we are still investigating it because there are difficulties in capturing the answer of the perpetrator. But according to the psychiatric doctor who we invited to have a good mindset, there are questions, there are answers, but the content of his thoughts is difficult," he said.

As previously reported, Syekh Ali Jaber was stabbed by an unknown person on Sunday afternoon at around 17:20 while attending the one million hafidz program in Lampung at the Falahuddin Mosque in Sukajawa Sub-District, Tanjung Karang Barat (TKB), Bandarlampung City.
