KPK Coordinates With Police Regarding Reporting Corruption Suspects In Cirebon

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will send the Director of Korsup Region II to coordinate with the Cirebon Police.

This was done after the Cirebon Police named the former Head of Financial Affairs (Kaur) of Citemu Village, Mundu District, Cirebon Regency, Nurhayati as a suspect. In fact, he is a reporter for alleged corruption in village funds that cost the state Rp800 million from 2018 to 2020.

"I will immediately ask the Director of Korsup II of the KPK to coordinate with APH regarding the handling of the case. Including, regarding the determination of the suspect," said KPK Deputy Chairman Nawawi Pomolango when contacted by VOI, Monday, February 21.

He said the KPK did have the authority to send a team to coordinate with other law enforcement officers. This step, continued Nawawi, is regulated in the KPK Law.

"In Article 8 letter (a) of Law No. 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK, it is stated that the KPK's authority is to coordinate investigations, investigations and prosecutions and eradicate corruption," he said.

From this coordination, there will be a number of things that will be explored. Including regarding the determination of Nurhayati as a reporter as a suspect.

"Yes (coordination, red) covers this," he said.

As previously reported, the Cirebon City Police have named the treasurer of Citemu Nurhayati Village as a suspect in village fund corruption. This determination is ensured in accordance with applicable legal rules.

In this case, the police have several times completed the case files for cases of corruption in village funds carried out by the Village Head Citemu Supriyadi, but the public prosecutor always refuses on the grounds that they are incomplete.

Furthermore, the investigation of the case was carried out and there was evidence pointing to Nurhayati. However, no evidence has yet been found of any flow of village funds into his personal pocket.

"Sister Nurhayati was investigated in depth, whether the act (with disbursement of funds, ed) was against the law or not. And from the results of the investigation that sister Nurhayati was involved in enriching brother Supriadi (so she was named a suspect, ed)," said Cirebon City Police Chief AKBP Fahri Siregar .
