JAKARTA - The proposal of the badminton legends to the Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko to become the Head of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) received appreciation from a number of PBSI Provincial Administrators (Pengprov).

Reported by Antara, Friday, September 11, several regional officials said that Moeldoko was the best figure to lead and restore the glory of Indonesian badminton in the international arena.

Chairman of the Central Java PBSI Provincial Management Basri Yusuf, believes that Moeldoko will be able to consolidate the national badminton world so that it becomes more solid and better.

"PBSI needs a figure with good and firm managerial skills so that there is no overlapping system from the center to the regions," said Basri.

Previously, a number of legends and former Indonesian badminton players met with Moeldoko in Jakarta, Thursday, September 10 and they specifically asked the former TNI Commander to be willing to be nominated as Chairman of PB PBSI for the 2020-2024 period.

Basri sees Moeldoko's firm figure as very appropriate for PBSI as an organization, especially for Moeldoko who likes to go directly to the field.

Oei Wijanarko Adi Mulya, Head of East Java PBSI Pengprov, said that the meeting of a number of badminton legends with Moeldoko was very positive for the badminton world in the country.

Oei said that Moeldoko was very capable of being the liaison between the central and regional administrations.

"He is also very close to the government, this will definitely help the PBSI wagon in the future. Badminton is not number two, badminton has to be number one. So it really needs to be commanded by a figure who protects Pengprov, is also close to athletes and has access to the government," said Oei.

He considered, currently the development of badminton athletes in Indonesia is good. It's just that, additions are needed to make it even more successful.

"Like science and technology, which turns out to be a program at the National Pelatnas Cipayung. Therefore, a leader who has a strong vision is needed to answer various challenges in developing Indonesian badminton," he said.

Oey believes Moeldoko is capable of carrying out this mandate and is the right person today.

"For me, the task is hard, because there is no second place winner in the badminton book. Yes, we have to cooperate with 34 provinces. Then also, the factor of finding a flow of funds. Pak Moeldoko has access to it, yes, we still collaborate with companies that already have. hearts in badminton, "he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Yogyakarta PBSI Provincial Pengprov, Suhartono, considered it was not an exaggeration if the Indonesian badminton legend glanced at Moeldoko to become the general chairman of PBSI. He only advised that if the position of the General Chair was to be able to become a liaison between the management and the key to the flow of funds.

Suhartono continued, the improvement that PB PBSI needs to do for the coming period is to give confidence to athletes to be more enthusiastic.

He gave an example, an international sparring program must be carried out by the management.

"I think that from year to year, our seeds have never slacked off. For example, clubs in Yogyakarta always have athletes entering the national training team. We just need special management, there is sparring of international caliber, from within itself the capital is there," he said. .

Currently, the management of PP PBSI for the 2016-2020 period is under the leadership of Wiranto as its general chairman which will end in October 2020.
