National Police Chief Urges The Public To Use COVID-19 Centralized Isolation Facilities

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo appealed to the public to take advantage of the centralized isolation facilities (isoters) provided by the government to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

Sigit explained that the centralized isolation facility does not only provide a place, but also health workers so that those affected by COVID-19 will be monitored for their condition until the isolation period ends.

"I urge people whose homes are not adequate to carry out self-isolation, we suggest it is better to be treated in an isoter," said the National Police Chief when inspecting the centralized isolation area at Haji Sukolilo Dormitory, Surabaya, East Java, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 19.

The National Police Chief also encourages those who are elderly (elderly) and have congenital diseases (comorbid) but are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms to be isolated centrally in a place provided by the government.

“Even though the symptoms are mild, we recommend an isoter, because the health workers, medicines, treatment, and supervision are much better. Even though the fatality rate (death, ed.) is still low, it is still a risk for the elderly, co-morbidities, and those whose vaccinations are not yet complete," explained Listyo Sigit as quoted from a written release received in Jakarta.

The National Police Chief said the daily number of COVID-19 cases of the Omicron variant had exceeded the daily number for the Delta variant. Therefore, the National Police Chief emphasized that there was a need for special strategies and handling so that the number of COVID-19 patients returned to a steady state.

"One way is to separate people who are exposed (to those who are not, ed)," he said.

During his visit to the Sukolilo Haji Dormitory, the National Police Chief not only checked the available facilities for isolation, but also greeted and expressed his appreciation to the health workers on duty.

“The facilities are good, the medicines are complete, and the health service is good. There are also activities to fill (time) while in the isoter so that it is hoped that this can encourage (patients) to recover quickly," said the National Police Chief.

The National Police Chief continued to express his hope that the patients undergoing isolation at the Haji Sukolilo Dormitory would recover quickly.

"Hopefully we can get through this new variant well, and return to normal and carry on as usual," said General Sigit.
