JAKARTA - To all residents of Karawang. The beds in the hospital specifically designated for COVID-19 patients are all filled.

The Karawang Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force, West Java, conveyed the latest developments in hospital beds due to the high number of corona virus cases in the area.

Spokesperson for the Karawang COVID-19 Task Force, Fitra Hergyana said, the high increase in COVID-19 cases forced this area to have to implement level 3 community activity restrictions (PPKM).

"The implementation of PPKM level 3 starts from February 15 to February 21, 2022," said Fitra, quoted from Antara, February 16.

He said the basis for implementing PPKM level 3 was in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 10 of 2022.

"The positive number of COVID-19 in Karawang is more than 50 per 100,000 population every week. So the increase is quite high," said Fitra.

Currently, there are 212 residents undergoing treatment at the hospital and 1,838 people undergoing self-isolation.

"The hospital's BOR (bed availability for COVID-19 patients) has also started to fill up," he said.

Fitra appealed to the public to tighten health protocols to help suppress the spread of COVID-19 in Karawang.

In addition, the acceleration of vaccination is also accelerated. Currently the total vaccination in Karawang has only reached 88.38 percent. However, for children aged 6-11 years, it has reached 93 percent more.

"We also focus on the elderly. Because only 63 percent," he said.
