Good News From Kendari, Fisherman Who Was Missing 2 Days In Konawe Waters Finally Found

JAKARTA - Daeng Alle (60), a fisherman who was reported missing while at sea since Monday, February 14, between the waters of Nii Tanasa and Labengki Island, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, was finally found. The good news, he was found safe.

Head of Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi said the victim was found safe by fishermen from Kendari who were heading to Labengki.

"At 08.00 WITA, the victim who was bobbing on his longboat was found by fishermen from Kendari to Labengki who passed about 8.41 nautical miles north of the last estimated location of the victim's whereabouts," said Aris, Wednesday, February 16, quoted from Antara.

After being found, the victim was then evacuated to Nii Tanasa Village, then taken to the puskesmas for examination of the victim's health condition.

Basarnas previously conducted a search operation for victims since Monday (14/2). Until entering the third day, the search for victims involved a joint element of the Konawe BPBD, Lalonggasumeeto Police, Nii Tanasa Village officials, UHO SAR, Kendari fishermen, local communities and the victims' families.

"With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation against the victim is declared complete and closed. All elements involved are returned to their respective units," explained Aris.

The Kendari Basarnas previously received information on the incident since Monday (14/2) at around 22.32 WITA from the village head of Nii Tanasa named Asri who reported that the victim had not returned from fishing.

Based on the report, at 22:50 WITA the rescue team from the Kendari Search and Rescue Office (KPP) was dispatched to the last location of the victim's whereabouts to provide SAR assistance.

The victim, a resident of Nii Tanasa Village, Lalonggasumeeto District, Konawe Regency, was reported not to have returned since Monday (14/2) at around 15.00 WITA. The victim was previously thought to have disappeared between the waters of Nii Tanasa and Labengki Island, Konawe Regency while fishing.
