KUDUS - The Kudus Police Team, Central Java, is still investigating the alleged fraudulent case of fake cooking oil experienced by the victim who is a cracker entrepreneur in Dawe District, Kudus.

"We have followed up the information on the alleged fraud in the sale and purchase of cooking oil by visiting the crime scene. Wait for the results of the investigation," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kudus Police AKP Agustinus David P, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 16.

He admitted that the case was relatively new because previously there had been no cases of fraud related to fake cooking oil. But this is the first time a fake cooking oil fraud case has been found.

In addition to conducting an investigation, the police also conducted a laboratory test of the supposedly fake cooking oil.

So that similar cases do not repeat themselves, the Kudus Police appealed to the public to be more selective in buying cooking oil and advised to buy cooking oil from a trusted store.

Meanwhile, Siti Mutoharoh, a resident of Cendono Village, Dawe District, who was a victim of fraud selling fake cooking oil, revealed that the fraud case occurred on Saturday, February 12 at sunset.

Previously, he admitted, he had ordered cooking oil five times, so he believed it when he was offered it again. But the fifth order turned out to be not cooking oil but water.

The victim himself realized that he was deceived when he was about to fry crackers on Sunday, February 13. The fake cooking oil looks more like water, while the yellow color is thought to be mixed with dye.

The fake cooking oil, which totaled 357 kilograms, was bought for Rp. 16,500 per kilogram or cheaper than the selling price on the market for Rp. 18,000/kg. So the victim suffered a loss of Rp. 5.89 million.

Musmiah, the victim's sister, also experienced the same fraud because she bought 85 kg of fake cooking oil, resulting in a loss of Rp. 1.4 million.
